Firestopping of Service Penetrations
The compartmentation of a structure involves sectioning off that building into a series of areas which have a fireproof perimeter in order to contain a fire from spreading throughout that structure, for example each apartment in an apartment block may be regarded as a compartment. However, services such as plumbing and electrical cables often need to pass through compartment walls which can offer an access route for the spread of smoke and flames.
Therefore the fire integrity of these walls must be reinstated by the use of various firestopping products such as fire board, fire mortar, intumescent mastic and intumescent pipe wraps or pipe collars.
Cut & Seal Ltd use only the best products on the market to ensure that each fire wall achieves the fire rating required by the structure’s architect.
Structural Steel Intumescent Coating
In the event of a fire the temperature within a structure can reach levels at which even structural steel can begin to weaken and eventually collapse. The application of intumescent coatings can delay this process, allowing the building to be evacuated and possibly allowing the fire fighters to quell the fire without the danger of the collapse of the structure.
Cut & Seal Ltd use electric and petrol driven compressors to apply these coatings evenly and to the thickness required by the manufacturers to achieve the fire rating required by the architect or engineer.
Board Systems
In order to create a compartment wall within a building it is often more feasible to use a fire rated plasterboard partition rather than a concrete or masonry wall.
Cut & Seal Ltd can supply and install the correct board to achieve the required fire rating ranging from effective mineral-fibre type boards, to high specification Gypsum and Calcium Silicate board systems which can be taped and finished to a high decorative standard.
Barrier Systems
Internal Smoke and Fire Barrier Systems provide compartment separation options for such applications as ceiling and loft or roof-space voids.
A range of accredited systems are available to meet fire / smoke passage and insulation requirements.
Cladding Systems
A lot of modern buildings now are clad on the outside in either glass or insulated panels, however this leaves a gap between the cladding which provides access for smoke and fire to move between floor levels.
Cut & Seal Ltd closes this gap using the best products available to achieve a fire rating required by the architect or engineer.
